Building Webpages and Blogs

Jennifer Gingerich began her presentation with posing thought provoking questions to the workshop participants. Why have a blog? What are the roadblocks? Whey should teachers have a website? Participants were then asked to blog their thoughts. She is full of ideas on how to build easy, free (or low cost) websites and blogs. Check out her blog for all her information and resources.

LiteracyNet

LiteracyNet
Excellent content (current and past CNN San Francisco bureau news stories) for struggling readers at the middle and high school levels. "Each module includes the full text of each story and interactive activities to test comprehension. The learner can choose to read the text, listen to the text, and view a short video clip of the story. Each module is designed for ease of use so the learner can use it independently. The instructor can also incorporate any story into class activities and lesson plans."

Classroom Applications for Palm

Hello everyone, this is an introductory entery for Kerry Clawson's session on "Classroom Applications for Palm." Kerry clearly has done a great deal of work with her students on using this technology. Any thoughts on how you might utilize this technology with your students or teachers?

Integrate Multimedia and Media Resources in Your Teaching

Participants in Hall Davidson's workshop began the day by integrating elements from multimedia "kits" into iMovie or PowerPoint to create a simple multiumedia project.

Class continued by exploring software to create video clips with Goo, Morph, and Crazy Talk.

We also looked at a USB microscope called Scope on a Rope.

Class ended with a very interesting group laser pointer activity.

Thanks for a great class, Hall!

What's Your IM?

Do you remember using pig Latin to have private conversations with your friends while in earshot of adults? Are your kids, at home or in the classroom, using a different language, instant messaging, or both? Well, times are changing and so are the language and forum in which the conversations are taking place. (Have you heard of 133ksp33k?)

This "Short Session" will take a look at the evolving world of IM and how it's being integrated into the classroom. We'll also look at how video chats are being used in education.

So, come play with the tools F2F (face to face), LOL (laugh out loud), and see how GMTA (great minds think alike).

Session Resources:

TTFN (ta-ta for now).

Caching Resources

Attending the Short Session on Geocaching? Yes, it's paperless, but the good news is that all of the information is online! And that includes a Powerpoint presentation and then some!

Lynn's Caching Page with assorted downloads and a link to her Lane ESD web site.

Where are we?

If this question is on your mind, perhaps you might want to experiment with a GPS (global positioning system) receiver! With a GPS you can determine your latitude and longitude coordinates as well as your altitude.

Duirng the "Short Sessions" you will have the opportunity to learn about geocaching and how you can apply it in the classroom...For those of you who want the REAL thing, meet in the Mt. Hood Ballroom on Monday at 4:30 pm--you'll get to do some hands on Geoaching. Be sure to bring car keys (or come with a friend who has keys!), something to trade, and your geosenses! We will be splitting up into groups and caching our way into the dinner hour.
