Todd Hamilton

IMG_1132.jpgTodd Hamilton is Director of Technology and Literacy for the innovative South Lane School District (Cottage Grove, Oregon). Todds unique position supports his belief that the tightly woven elements of curriculum, technology, and leadership are essential to the success of each student.

Todds initial curiosity in education began nearly two decades ago, at a purely emotional level. I was working as a camp counselor in Vermont, primarily because of my love for backpacking and other outdoor pursuits. Id never been to camp as a kid, and Id never really encountered a teacher who was truly inspiring, he remembers. So when I saw what leadership and innovative teaching could do for each kid, it really made an impression.

After completing his studies at the University of Oregon, receiving his MAT at Pacific University, and teaching in elementary schools in Hermiston, Oregon and Eugene, Oregon, Todd looked to have greater impact. What I found was that I was really having more influence on kids by teaching teachers.

Since, Todd has shared his passions in the Eugene School District as Curriculum and Staff Development Specialist, Instructional Technology Specialist, and Project Director for the 4J Handheld Integration Project. He has presented at local and national conferences on assorted topics related to curriculum, instructional technology, and leadership.

Todd lives in Eugene with his wife and their 5-year-old daughter. Todd loves to spend time outdoors with his family, an unruly Pomapoo named Pip, and a magnificent mutt named Maggie. He declines to comment on the latest pet rat.
