Visual Ranking Tool
The Visual Ranking Tool is the latest of Intel's Online Thinking Tools.
Seeing Reason had some good applications to Cause and Effect thinking but Visual Ranking took my understanding of online thinking tools and collaborative PBL (Project Based Learning) to the next level. Take a look at the tool and click on tryout the tool. Then click the Compare icon at the top to compare your Visual Ranking with others in real time. To setup a free account click the Teacher Login link on the right side of the webpage. This is the kind of communication that occurs when we give students time and space to think and collaborate in a higher-order way.

If you missed the Seeing Reason workshop earlier this year within the context of the Oregon ED Tech Cadre you can check it out and try out the tool in the same way that you can with Visual Ranking.

WriteSite!
WriteSite (formerly Southern Oregon Write Site) has been completely rewritten by OETC and is now available to use in your classroom / school. Visit the new WriteSite homepage. The password for both students and "instructors" is "password" (without the quotes).
I'll be presenting a mini version of the WriteSite overview Jennifer and I presented in Spokane (NCCE conference April 13-16, 2004)
This is a great product, and with your help, we can make it even better.
Here's how to make links "hot" in your blog postings (requires basic copy and paste skills). There's a sample of the "code" that must appear in your post. If I paste the entire code here (correctly), it will only appear as a hot link, defeating my intention of providing the code you need to edit and paste into YOUR post. So here's a work-around.
Your HTML code begins and ends with the math symbols (greater and less than) < > and has the following code BETWEEN the characters (including the spaces and quotations): a href="http://www.google.com target="_blank">Google
When you add the "target="_blank" your target opens in a new window so people can return easily to your blog.

Carrie Carpenter Tries th3/27/
Hello Friends,
I am trying the BLOG as a real newby. I would be happy to assist anyone with technology curricululum integration. I am still learning, so I consider myself more of a peer than a mentor. I am looking forward to tomorrow's workshop. Hope you all have a safe trip.
