2008 NETS Projects

What evidence/illustration can you bring to our spring cadre that will show how your participation in the cadre has made an impact on the education of students or the effectiveness of teachers? It should address one or more of the cadre purposes:

What is the Cadre?

WE ARE:

Staff developers, educators or others who provide professional development and/or training to educators.

Purpose Our goal is to identify and disseminate best practices targeting technology integration into teaching and learning, by: providing a forum for networking and collaborative work, focusing on exemplary staff development skills, modeling effective instructional strategies using emerging technologies, focusing on Framework for 21st Century Learning (Learning and Innovation Skills for 2007-08), internalizing NETS for Students.

Roles & Responsibilities Learn how to use effective staff development strategies. Learn how to integrate technology into our jobs and the classroom. Learn about emerging technologies. Share professional expertise to extend and enhance each other’s skills and knowledge. Share new knowledge and skills learned through cadre gatherings with other members of your organization and/or with the customers served by your organization. Commit to the cadre meetings for one year. Create a climate that is collaborative, informal, hands-on and respectful.

Insomnia Film Festival

Calling all high school and college filmmakers. The Insomnia Film Festival is back—and while the world sleeps, you could be making film history.

On Saturday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern time), we’ll post a top-secret list of elements — special props, dialogue, settings — you get the idea. Choose any three to include in your movie. Then all you and your team have to do is write, cast, shoot, edit, score, and upload your 3-minute masterpiece within 24 hours. No problem, right?

Once the films are in, your friends, family, and adoring fans will be able to watch them online and rate their favorites. The 25 entries with the highest rating on November 9 at 12:00 a.m. EST will be screened by industry professionals, including Barry Sonnenfeld, James Mangold, and Nora Ephron.

If your film is the biggest hit with either the public or the pros, each member of your team will receive a MacBook Pro, Final Cut Studio 2, Logic Studio, and Shake so you can get started on that first sequel. How’s that for a Hollywood ending?

We are looking forward to our cadre gathering next Thursday and Friday. Check out the links for more about the agenda or travel info.

Be sure to bring any new tech tools, or resources to share with the group. Post the URLs here to this blog so others can easily access the information. We will be working more indepth is meeting on integration of technology into migrant ed and utilizing assistive technology strategies, but we will also have time to share.

Any late night geocachers may want to bring any GPS and of course a flashlight for fun around town. See ya Thursday, at WESD (across the street from their main building).
